DJI thermal drones write radiometric R-JPEGs that most software treats as ordinary photos. Atlas routes recognized files through DJI's Thermal SDK and understands DJI file conventions well enough to sort an entire memory card by itself.

Format handling is model- and firmware-specific; Atlas does not infer support for an entire DJI family from one capture.

Atlas reads embedded temperature data from supported DJI R-JPEG and FLIR radiometric files — not just the colorized preview — and keeps measurement parameters available for review.

R-JPEGs decoded the right way

Modern DJI thermal stills need DJI's own measurement pipeline; naive EXIF parsing can be wildly off. Atlas uses the DJI Thermal SDK for recognized R-JPEGs. Current M4TD evidence demonstrates SDK-output parity only, not known-target physical accuracy or field calibration.

Your whole card, filed automatically

A DJI card mixes wide, zoom, and IR frames that share the same make and model tags. Atlas classifies each frame by its actual content and metadata, pairs thermal with optical captures, and groups same-flight videos together. The DJI R-MP4 path is implemented but not certified for M4TD, and video parameter recalculation is unsupported.

Frequently asked questions

Which DJI drones does Atlas support?

Atlas accepts standard DJI photos and video and attempts recognized radiometric formats through model-specific paths. Thermal capability is not a family-wide claim; validate the exact model, firmware, and format before field use.

Can Atlas get temperatures out of DJI thermal video?

The R-MP4 pipeline can retain source-linked per-frame matrices when the DJI SDK accepts the file, but M4TD video has not passed known-target certification. Video parameter recalculation is unsupported.

Is Atlas affiliated with DJI?

No. Atlas Inspections is independent software that processes files DJI drones produce and exports missions in DJI-compatible formats. DJI is a trademark of its respective owner.
